Like many Americans and people around the world, we are saddened, frustrated, and angered by the senseless and merciless racial violence routinely perpetrated upon black and brown people in the United States. Simply put, it is horrific. It hurts our hearts, and we are beyond words. For some of us at the practice, racial bias is part of our life experiences and those of our families.
Mallory, Baron, Ross, Kindler & Adeosun stands with the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) in modeling leadership that is focused on unity, support, and action. To echo IECA’s words, MBRKA will continue to use the opportunities and platforms available to us, as leaders in education, to do our part to enact real change and raise the next generations to be empathetic, informed, and prepared to fight for social justice.
We stand with the Black Lives Matter movement. To be clear, this does not mean that only black lives matter. We know that all lives matter, but help is needed because all too often black lives are in danger, from police killings, to predatory lending practices, to poorly-funded schools. To say ‘Black Lives Matter’ simply acknowledges the many ways in which they never did.
We grieve with the Floyd family and with all families whose sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents were taken from them at the hands of police violence and brutality.
While we hope our words aren’t controversial, at this crossroads, MBRKA’s focus must continue to stand on the right side of history with people from around the world, from all races and backgrounds, lifting our voices to support, in a restorative manner, and an honest look at how racial injustice affects this country and the world.
